A man is walking in the park. A women is sitting on the bench reading a book and notices that the man has thrown the wrapper for the packet of crisps he was eating on the floor. She gets up, picks up the litter, and puts it in the bin.
Thats the kind of world I believe we should all be living in. Have you ever thought about where your waste goes to, and I don’t mean it come across your mind from time to time, I mean really thought about it. The world was never meant to have our waste floating around the ocean. Its unnatural. When people pollute the world it gets me thinking. Do they realise what they are doing when they don’t put the cornflakes box in the recycling bin.
Some of you reading this might have seen the video that recently emerged from the internet of a turtle with a plastic straw lodged in its nostril. My stomach churned at the sight of it. The fact that these plastic objects are also effecting the wildlife as well is devastating. Plastic items can take up to 1000 years to decompose and and almost 300 million tonnes of plastic world wide is not recycled per year. Pollution is now a worldwide habit, and everybody nows how hard it is to break a habit. I’m not asking that people never buy a plastic packaged product ever again, but that they know the consequences of their actions.
Beaches around the world are being destroyed by plastic pollution. If we don’t stop throwing our plastic in the ocean soon enough we won’t be able to feel warm sand in-between our toes because the beaches will be covered in a sheet of nasty plastic. So next time you can’t be bothered to throw away the Cadbury wrapper think about the effects, perhaps sign up to do something environmentally rewarding, think about the world we live in and how to take care of it…
See you next time,
